welcome to the korean pop corner of my website! this page exists precisely because it deserves it – k-pop is one of my niche areas, and has had a significant influence on my career as a performer, producer, songwriter, and dj.
i started dj-ing and performing electronic music for k-pop themed events around 2017, running the gamut from college house shows, local community dance nights, karaoke parties, and private events, to larger national and international conventions like KCON.
that said, i was deeply involved in k-pop long before that, having been immersed in korean popular music for close to two decades now. without spoiling things too much, here are some fun snapshots from my youth!
while i ultimately didn’t go down the singing/dancing/rapping idol route, i have kept k-pop close to my heart throughout the years, and had the opportunity to write for, produce for, and work with various artists’ music pools and teams.
it probably helped that back in the day, you hee-yeol told me straight that i should be a producer instead of an idol ;)
i find tons of joy in keeping the k-pop flame alive with dance party sets that are capable of spanning all generations of k-pop groups and solo idols, or are hyper-specific to a certain era, year, group, or subgenre.
i’ve also found lots of happy crossovers between k-pop and my work as a live electronic artist, which is perfect for the moments that you’d like to hear your favorite k-pop song with a little twist! throw in midi controllers, live looping, some classic dolltr!ck vocal processing, and you’ve got a custom k-pop electronic performance.
